A secondary service connection means your already service-connected disability caused or worsened another condition. Many veterans leave benefits on the table because they do not realize how often these links show up in real claims.

Why secondary claims matter

If the VA already recognizes one disability, that same condition may support additional claims for problems it caused down the line — like PTSD leading to sleep apnea or chronic back pain leading to radiculopathy.
