Exposure to tactical herbicides in Vietnam and other covered locations.
Asbestos
Heavy asbestos use continued through the Vietnam War in Navy ships, Marine berthing, shipyards, and base buildings. Boiler rooms, engine rooms, and pipe insulation aboard surface ships and submarines were near-uniformly asbestos-lagged through the 1970s.
